This is a monthly update where I share what I’ve been working on recently. For the previous installment, check out my March 2023 Update.
The big theme this month was analysis paralysis. Should I work on Google Ads? Getting into the app stores for Slack, Atlassian, etc.? Launch on Product Hunt? There’s a whole dependency tree of stuff I want to do before I launch on Product Hunt, so should I start on all of that first?
As a result, I ended up doing a whole lot of nothing. It also didn’t help that the weather here in Portland got nice and I wanted to spend my free time outside instead of working on Teaminal. I did do some stuff, though:
Updated marketing site
The feature pages for standup, planning poker, retro, and backlog refinement have existed for some time, but were kind of broken and didn’t make sense. I finally got around to cleaning those up in anticipation of running ads to those pages.
Google Ads
I migrated from Google Analytics’ default setup to Google’s Tag Manager, with the idea being that I’d set up conversion tracking for Google Ads. The actual conversion tracking turned out to be pretty confusing, but I got the Tag Manager bits working.
Invite user flow
After getting a support ticket where different members of a team had signed up for their own individual accounts, I redesigned the team and user management pages, hopefully making it more clear and easier to use. I’m also working on documentation of how user management works.
As part of this, I also added a new feature where you can just share a sign up link with your team and they’ll be able to sign up to your account, so you don’t have to invite folks one by one.
Fixes & Improvements
In addition to the items above, I also shipped a few small fixes and improvements:
- Fix bug where multiple notifications would be sent if you had commented on something multiple times
- Improve internal admin tools so that I don’t have to log out and back in after accessing a user account
- Send an email to the billing email on file when their organization is deleted
Update: The May 2023 Update is the next post in this series.
